Los Angeles Blueprints is grounded in reclaiming narratives of representation, from the gaze, toward often unseen communities and neighborhoods of Los Angeles. I create scratched handmade cyanotype prints to reflect on waves of gentrification, collective memory, place and home -- revealing what is beneath the surface. Through a hybrid multidisciplinary process, my work reimagines surveillance archives of Black, brown, immigrant, working-class people – those are often left marginalized throughout history. Combining imagemaking and mark making through scratching in my work become lyrics of feeling, hardship, and a kind of grace to take up space. My work is a love letter to the old L.A., revering the everyday fleeting acts of survival -- artifacts to be kept closely. Beyond a picture or an image, my work is a neighborhood of our things. dedicated to a community in fluctuating resistance.
